I remember sitting in the theater at ten years old, watching How to Train Your Dragon and thinking, ‘this is the best movie I’ve ever seen.’ To this day, How to Train Your Dragon still reigns as one of my favourite movies, and I recall sitting in the theater on my fourteenth birthday watching How to Train Your Dragon 2 and wondering how they got the clouds to look so real, and that’s when I realized how much I loved animation. Becoming an animator seemed like such a dream, not something I could actually achieve, but I went through three years of animation and here I am stepping into the industry as a VFX Artist. As I got older, I started to pay attention to the CGI within film and realized how much I truly admired VFX, it feels like the most magical thing to me; creating something that’s supposed to look real or merely creating something completely unreal. I realized how little I enjoyed actual animating, but instantly loved working with visual effects when I had the chance.
